Speeding excessively while drunk is not a good idea.
But Vernon RCMP caught a young driver doing just that on Saturday.
A North Okanagan Traffic Services officer noticed a Subaru speeding at Ricardo Road on Highway 6 near Coldstream about 7:20 a.m. It was clocked on radar travelling 56 clicks over the 80 km/h speed limit.
When the officer pulled over the driver, he noticed the smell of liquor on his breath. The driver was asked to provide two roadside breath samples, both of which failed.
The 21-year-old Vernon man has been charged with excessive speed and was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and notice of impoundment.
