Parade pleases all

Thousands of people lined the streets of Vernon Saturday for the biggest event of the Vernon Winter Carnival – the parade.

A little bit of light rain didn't deter the crowd or the parade participants, many of whom got into carnival's rock 'n' roll theme. More than a few Elvis sightings were made during the hour-long parade, which wound its way along 27th Street and down 30th Avenue.

Rock bands, marching bands, pipe bands, civic royalty, horses, dogs, clowns and all manner of businesses, service groups and emergency vehicles delighted the crowds.

Parents applauded and kids gobbled candy handed out by the crews of the various floats.

The carnival continues until Feb. 15 with dozens of events all over the city.
