Missing woman found

UPDATE JAN 11

RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk says Johanna Frouws has been found safe and sound.

ORIGINAL JAN 9

Vernon RCMP are looking for public help to locate a missing woman.

On Jan. 8, shortly after 6 p.m., a man contacted the Vernon RCMP saying his wife had gone missing.

The man told police he and his common-law, wife Johanna Frouws, had driven to the liquor store near the Safeway on 32nd Street.

He went into the store to purchase some beer and she waited in the car. When he came out of the store, Frouws was no longer in the vehicle. The vehicle was where he parked it, along with the keys.

Frouws, 58, is described as:

  • A caucasian female
  • Green eyes
  • Brown hair
  • 5’7"
  • 128 pounds

Frouws has been known to use crack cocaine occasionally, although according to her husband, not lately.

Her husband said there was nothing indicating anything was wrong, and the behaviour is considered out of character for her.

Frouws' cellphone was left behind as well. All attempts to find her so far have come up empty.

Vernon RCMP are asking anyone with information on Frouws' whereabouts to call police.
