Jail time for arsonist

When Pedro’s Fruit Stand burnt to the ground in September 2013, it took owner Dale Ruth and his family months to recover.

Now the man responsible for that fire has been found guilty of arson and theft over $5,000.

Adam Michael Schultz, 39, appeared in a Salmon Arm Court Room for trial on Monday and was sentenced to two years in jail, plus six months for the theft.

He was also ordered to pay $7,000 in restitution.

Schultz was a former employee of the fruit stand, and was arrested after a four month investigation.

When Castanet spoke with Ruth back in September of 2013 he explained the community stood behind his family and they were receiving support. The fruit stand re-opened in April of this year.
