Missing teen girls found

Update

Two Vernon teenage girls missing since November 28 have been located, safe and sound, in Manitoba.

Saylor Nicole Martian and Tina Kontos, both 15, are in Headingley, Manitoba. They have been picked up by RCMP and arrangements are being made to bring them back to Vernon.

One of the girls made contact with her parents, letting them know where she and her friend were.

RCMP had reached out to the media to spread the word about the missing girls, and family and friends used social media to urge the girls to make contact.

Original story

Vernon RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating two missing teenage girls.

Saylor Nicole Martian and Tina Kontos, both aged 15, were last seen early Saturday morning in Enderby.

Parents of the girls believe they may have run off together and could be headed to either the Lower Mainland, or Alberta.

Martian is described as:

  • 15 years old
  • 5’4
  • 110 lbs
  • Light brown hair
  • Brown eyes
  • Dark rimmed glasses
  • Last seen wearing black yoga pants

Kontos is described as:

  • 15 years old
  • 5’8
  • 108 lbs
  • Brown eyes
  • Brown hair down to her waist with a blonde streak
  • Purple/brown wire glasses
  • Dark purple jacket
  • Black boots or brown shoes

A family friend of the girls say they have a backpack with them, but are not prepared for cold temperatures.

They have also set up a Facebook page to find the girls.

Trish Martian says both girls have recently struggled with social and personal issues and, along with the other family members, is concerned for their safety.

"We just want them to know that we love them so very much and are so worried about them," says Martian. "So many family and friends are out there searching for them and we are all praying for their safe return. Please girls, just call someone and let us know where you are. Someone out there must have seen them -- please help us find them."

The Vernon RCMP asks that anyone with information to call their nearest police department.
