Lots of smoke from open burning

Residents from Salmon Arm to Enderby may notice a lot of smoke coming from the area of Ida Mountain.

According to Wildfire Management in Kamloops, the smoke is emanating from a series of legal open burns in the vicinity.

Wildfire Management Branch spokesperson, Kayla Pepper, says as many as 40 permits have been issued for legal burning in the Ida Mountain area.

Pepper says these may result in a lot of smoke between now and when the open burning season ends sometime next spring.
