Ex-cop's porn trial

A former Vernon RCMP police officer, accused of possessing child pornography, has a trial date set for March 2015.

Ryan Hampton's preliminary hearing wrapped up at the beginning of March 2014 at which time he was ordered to stand trial in BC Supreme Court.

The judge determined that there is enough evidence to go through with the charges and ordered the 35-year-old Hampton to go to trial.

He faces nine charges, including possession of child pornography, obstructing a police investigation and breaching conditions.

Hampton was taken off duty as an RCMP officer after his arrest in June 2013, he then resigned from the force.

The seven-day trial will be before a judge alone and it will begin on March 2, 2015 in Vernon.
