The Canadian Cancer Society’s Daffodil Ball raised over $465,000 in the Okanagan this past weekend.
That is a record setting amount for the charity gala, which funds life-saving research, leads cancer prevention initiatives and delivers compassionate support to people affected by cancer.
The 10th annual event, which took place at the Sparkling Hill Resort, was attended by donors who gave generously while enjoying an evening of fine dining, auctions and entertainment.
“Like everything we do, Daffodil Month and the Daffodil Ball are only possible because of the generosity of our donors, volunteers and community partners,” says regional director Randene Wejr.
“On behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society, I offer my sincere gratitude to everybody who is helping us make a difference in the fight against cancer.”
The gala celebrated the Canadian Cancer Society’s contributions over the last 76 years in supporting families affected by cancer, and also recognized how research, prevention and support programs have made a positive difference for cancer patients and their loved ones.
Daffodil Balls take place in both Kelowna and Vancouver, as well as in Montreal and New Brunswick, and since their inceptions, have helped to raise millions for cancer research, support and prevention.
