11:30 a.m. Apr. 15 update:

RCMP say it may have been a misuse of a turn signal that caused the accident in Vernon Monday morning.

RCMP Spokesman Gord Molendyk says a green Dodge minivan was heading north on Hwy. 97, while a grey Dodge truck was heading southbound.

The driver of the grey truck says the minivan's right turn signal was on indicating that they were going to take a right on 41st Avenue, leading her to believe it was safe to turn left onto 41st as well.

According to RCMP the driver of the minivan says they were going straight ahead and the Dodge truck turned into them.

Molendyk says witnesses at the scene have confirmed the information.

2:40 p.m. Apr. 14: Two people, a driver and passenger, were sent to hospital after their minivan crashed into a silver truck that had turned in front of them on Hwy. 97 Monday afternoon.

The young woman driver of the truck was in tears as she spoke to police, she appeared uninjured.

The silver truck was heading southbound on Hwy. 97 and attempted to turn left onto 41st Avenue.

The minivan was heading northbound on Hwy. 97 and struck the truck as it crossed in front.

“In the van there were two individuals injured who are being transported to hospital. The driver in the silver Dodge Ram is uninjured,” said Bond.

Bond says the minivan’s passenger’s injuries could be serious, but the driver’s are minor.

The accident had one lane blocked northbound for about an hour starting at 1 p.m.
