It was a busy weekend for Salmon Arm police as they dealt with slippery road conditions and sloppy drivers.
On Friday they arrested a man at the Greyhound Bus Depot for public intoxication. He was taken into custody until he was sober enough to ride the bus.
Later that same evening, police stopped a vehicle on 10th Avenue NE. The 39-year-old female driver initially denied consuming any alcohol, however two subsequent breath samples indicated she was driving with excessive alcohol in her body. Her driver’s license was suspended and the vehicle towed.
Police stopped another suspected drunk driver early Saturday morning on the Trans-Canada Highway. The 32-year-old man told police that he had not consumed any alcohol either.
When asked to provide a breath sample, he told police he could not because of severe asthma. He later provided two separate breath samples that indicated excessive amounts of alcohol. His driver’s license was suspended and the vehicle was towed.
On Sunday, police responded to two separate vehicle accidents partially caused by winter weather conditions. The first was a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Bolton Road and the Trans-Canada Highway. The driver failed to negotiate slippery roads, causing the vehicle to flip over an embankment. The driver was not injured.
The second happened when a vehicle attempted to pass another on the Trans-Canada and slid on the road. It ended up crossing into oncoming lanes and went down a steep embankment. The vehicles occupants were taken to hospital but suffered only minor injuries.
