Orchard harvest a bounty for kids
Sep 2, 2013 / 4:54 pm
The September harvest is upon us and Davison Orchards is offering a bounty of events for kids as well as adults who want to celebrate.
The orchard will have new tour options this year that are designed so even toddlers have their own bag and pick their own apples.
“Kids just seem to love to do things for themselves,” said Tamra Davison, of Davison Orchards.
"Getting kids out on to the farm is a natural way for them to learn all about farming and how things grow, plus, it’s fun and a great way to enjoy an Okanagan September."
On the morning of September 10, Toddler Tours will provide children with an apple picking experience catered for kids under 5. The morning will end with a fall story time in the Kids Corral.
There will also be free sampling and cooking demos focusing on a different crop every weekend including tomatoes, squash and of course, apples.
The orchard is open every day until Oct 31.
