All four individuals arrested in Tuesday’s manhunt have been released without any charges filed.
Spokesperson Gord Molendyk of the Vernon RCMP says charges may be filed in the future, and that possibility will be reassessed in the coming days.
“The investigators want to get all of the details put together in a package to find out exactly what they have and then present it to Crown,” says Molendyk.
“In a case such as this, I guess there could be different possibilities. Do you just look at a firearm charge? Do you look at danger issues? There are witnesses who were in the area that they want to talk to. What did you see? What did you hear? All of those things I think need to be put into perspective here before they know exactly what they have for charges.”
Three people were arrested in Kelowna yesterday after a report of shots fired in Vernon about 8 a.m. Tuesday morning near Polson Park. A fourth person was also arrested in Vernon that same day.
Molendyk says at least one of the people arrested is known to police. He also adds that to the best of his knowledge, no firearm has been recovered.
