Motorboat blocks road in Vernon
A single vehicle incident in Vernon Friday evening ended with a damaged trailer and a boat on the road.
Cpl Joe Leeson with the Vernon RCMP said just before 6 p.m. the 20-foot-long boat apparently shifted and caused the trailer to begin fishtailing.
The driver was unable to recover control of the truck and trailer and eventually spun out. This action sent the boat skittering across the lane and severely damaged the trailer.
Luckily no other vehicles were involved and the occupants of the truck were uninjured.
"It is a very busy road at that time but a detour was available on a nearby access road, so traffic was able to flow in both directions," he said.
A few tow trucks came with a new boat trailer and were able to lift the damaged vessel into place and take it away.
