Pot legal, stealing power not
A search warrant at a home in Spallumcheen turned up a legal grow op breaking an entirely different law.
On July 2, Armstrong RCMP with the assistance of BC Hydro executed a Criminal Code Search Warrant on Simons Rd., Spallumcheen, to investigate 'Theft of Hydro.'
What they found was a 'legal grow' under the Marijuana Medical Access Regulations, however it appeared electricity was being stolen to power the growing equipment
RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk says the investigation started in March of this year and after considerable work they were able to get a warrant for the property.
The property owner, a 39-year-old woman and her 39-year-old spouse, were taken into custody and later released on court documents.
They are both expected back in court Sept. 25 on charges of theft of telecommunications.
