Hikers rescued

Four hikers were rescued near Cherryville Sunday evening.

At about 5:50 p.m. the Vernon/North Okanagan detachment received a call about missing hikers in the area of North Fork Road.

RCMP say that the group of four managed to find a spot with weak cell service where they called a family member and reported that they were lost.

Vernon Search and Rescue and the Police Dog Unit were called in as well as an RCMP helicopter to assist in the search.

The four missing hikers, aged 27-32 were located and air lifted back to Lumby.

No one sustained any injuries.
