Suspicious fire at Vernon Rona

There was yet another suspicious fire in Vernon last night.

This time the late-night blaze was in Rona Home Centre's lumber yard.

Captain Dan Walker with the Vernon Fire Department said it was a late night for his team.

Two trucks responded and crews had some issues gaining access to the fire.

"According to the guys it was a big fire, but we defended it from spreading to the building or other materials in the yard," he said.

At least 30 pallets were torched, with unconfirmed reports reaching nearly 100.

The fire is under investigation by the RCMP.
