Visitor Info Centre opens

After months and months of controversy, Vernon's new Visitor Information Centre has opened its doors.

The centre, which is now located on 39th Avenue near the Civic Arena, is an amalgamation of the two prior centres at each end of town.

The centralization of the two locations caused extensive debate in the community ranging from parking concerns, directions, RV access and of course the over $292,000 price tag.

A mobile visitor booth was set up at the highway Visitor Centre while the move was underway on June 10 and staff opened the doors of the new centre right away welcoming almost a dozen visitors while the boxes were being unpacked around them.

As the busy tourist seasons starts, we will soon find out whether the new location will bring in more tourists or lose numbers as naysayers warned it would.

The city is now inviting residents and visitors to drop by and check out the new Visitor Information Centre, located at 3004 39 Ave (near the Civic Arena).
