$60,000 theft from business

Someone has stolen $60,000 worth of equipment from a small business in the North Shuswap area.

Sometime on the night of May 29, an unknown number of people broke into Unique Adventure Tours in Scotch Creek, BC.

The thieves broke into the business pick up truck, destroyed the ignition and detached the horse-style trailer hitched to it.

The trailer was loaded with eight Segway personal transport vehicles used for outdoor tours and adventures in the region.

"It just happened, so I have to talk to insurance and stuff - but as we all know, it doesn't mean we'll be up and running tomorrow," said the owner Barb Rivest.

After cutting the lock to the trailer, the suspects hooked it onto another vehicle and fled the scene.

The loss to the owner is in stolen equipment and lost business revenue as the outdoor adventure season started around Easter, although gets much busier in the summer months.

Chase RCMP are investigating and anyone with information is asked to contact them at 250.679.3221 or Crimestoppers at 1.800.222.8477.
