A housing complex is on fire in Vernon.

Vernon fire department say they were called out at about 7:30 p.m. to a fire at a housing complex near Mount Revelstoke Place.

Guy Fabi, who lives one row up from the fire said it "looks like two to three units are on fire. I know one is pretty much totalled."

"The fire seems a lot better than it was before," he said, adding that it didn't appear to be spreading from their point of view.

Lee Brinkman who contributed some photos said that firefighters seemed to get control of the blaze after the second truck arrived on scene.

"I believe the complex is the Hawk's Landing at the Ridges on Middleton," she said.

"Flames initially were about 50 feet in the air," she said.

Residents have been evacuated while crews continue to battle the blaze.

Vernon fire department had no further updates.
