The City of Vernon, Vernon Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) and Predator Ridge Golf Resort kicked off construction of the new Predator Ridge Fire Hall which is expected to be completed this year.
Back in January of 2011, the City of Vernon approved $60,000 for the design of a two-bay fire station to be located at Predator Ridge Golf Resort.
$600,000 was then approved by Council for the construction.
The station is expected to be completed by the end of October.
Vernon Fire Services currently has 34 career staff and 40 paid-per-call firefighters.
Station 2 (Okanagan Landing) and the new Predator Ridge Fire Hall (Station 3) will be operated by paid-per-call firefighters.
VFRS responds to approximately 3,000 emergency calls per year.
