Joyriding in a stolen Hummer

A stolen Hummer from Armstrong was located just outside Vernon by an astute citizen over the weekend.

“On April 4 an alert citizen from Vernon called the Vernon/North Okanagan detachment when he became a bit suspicious of several people in a black Hummer on Noble Canyon Road when they stopped and asked him where they could go off-roading,” explained RCMP Spokesman Gord Molendyk.

The man provided the police with the plate number for the vehicle.

When they checked it in their database police realized it was the Hummer reported stolen out of Armstrong on April 3.

“Our officers went out to Noble Canyon Road and located the vehicle.  Four people were taken into custody,” said Molendyk.

The driver of the vehicle was a 25-year-old man from Vernon. He is expected to face charges of possession of stolen property at a later date.
