Known drug dealer arrested

A local Vernon man has been arrested on drug trafficking charges.

Police in Vernon say the man was arrested as part of an investigation involving a local drug trafficker they knew to be dealing in the city.

The 54-year-old Vernon resident was arrested in a parking lot near the intersection of 35A Street and 40 Avenue in Vernon while he was in the process of conducting his business with another individual.

The investigating officer’s search located crack cocaine in the vehicle.

Numerous individual packages of crack cocaine weighing about 5 grams were seized along with over $1,600 in cash and other drug related paraphernalia.

“These types of investigations are part of the ongoing strategic priorities for the Vernon/North Okanagan Detachment to deter the drug trade and the related crime it creates in our detachment area” said Sgt Evans.
