Fire hall wifi used for porn

An elderly Notch Hill man is scheduled to appear in court later this month on possession of child pornography charges and impaired driving.

Police in Salmon Arm arrested Charles Gleave, 77, after receiving reports of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Sorrento Fire Hall early Sunday morning.

When they arrived, police found a lone male inside a pickup truck. When emergency lights were activated the truck began to drive away.

Police say a second cruiser was able to block the path of the pickup.

The driver was arrested for alcohol impairment. While making the arrest RCMP also discovered a laptop on the passenger seat of the man's truck. The computer page was allegedly opened to a website containing several images of child pornography.

Police say Gleave was accessing the wireless internet connection of the fire hall without permission.

Gleave's driver's licence has been suspended and his vehicle impounded as a result of the impaired charge.

He is scheduled to appear in court April 29.
