Truck break-in leaves known man in jail

Police were able to catch a man still at the crime scene after he allegedly broke into a car early Monday morning.

At about 1:40 a.m.the Vernon detachment received a report from a concerned citizen that a car was being broke into in the 3300 block of Centennial Drive.

"An unknown male was seen throwing rocks at the back window of a black truck until it broke and then he climbed inside," explained RCMP Spokesman Gord Molendyk.

Police responded to the scene and noticed the man was still inside rummaging through items in the vehicle.

Police called the suspect out of the truck and when he exited Molendyk said officers recognized him immediately.

The 36-year-old Vernon man was arrested for mischief and returned to Vernon cells where he is being held in custody for court Monday.
