Ron and Donna Ritchie haven't had much sleep since learning they were millionaires Saturday.
The Vernon couple picked up their million dollar cheque from the BC Lottery Corporation offices in Kamloops Tuesday afternoon.
"Maybe we can go to sleep now - it's been just unreal," says Ron Ritchie who admitted he hasn't had much sleep the past few days.
The Ritchie's won the $1M prize on Friday's Lotto Max draw on a ticket purchased at Charlie's Grocery. Their ticket was one of 30 MAXMILLIONS drawn.
"We went to Safeway on Saturday. I was checking our scratch tickets and my husband put our ticket in the checker," recalled Donna Ritchie.
"The guy behind the ticket counter said someone from Vernon won a million. I said it probably wasn't us. I looked at my husband and he goes 'it was.'
"I said no it wasn't, he said yes it was, I said no it wasn't and I stepped over and looked and there it was."
Donna says they already have plans for some of the money.
"Our house is under construction right now with renos so we are going to get a contractor in to finish those off," she says.
"We have three children and grandchildren so we are going to help them a little bit and have fun."
Ron already has his eyes on a new Chevy truck.
As for work, Donna says she has already quit her job while Ron says he will keep working - at least for now.
"I am going to try and work and see what happens. I am pretty close to retirement anyway so I might pull the pin."
