Drunk driver tries to escape in cab
Salmon Arm RCMP came across a crashed vehicle early Sunday morning in a ditch near the Salmon River Bridge.
The officer saw a taxi cab departing the scene as he arrived at 3:15 a.m. and traced a single set of footprints from the collision site to the spot where the taxi had departed.
They later discovered the 28-year-old male passenger from the taxi was the registered owner of the crashed vehicle and was extremely intoxicated.
He was taken to hospital, but refused medical service.
He later provided breath samples that were twice the legal limit.
