83-year-old fingers robber

RCMP in Vernon have made an arrest after an elderly man was robbed at the CIBC bank earlier this month.

The 83-year-old man had withdrawn an unspecified amount of cash from the ATM inside the bank on 30 Avenue sometime before 2:30 p.m. on Feb 10.

However, before he could take the money a woman came up from behind and took the cash.

As she tried to run the victim was able to grab her jacket.

RCMP spokesman, Gord Molendyk, says police made the arrest after following up on information from the public.

The 27-year-old suspect was arrested and later released on a Promise to Appear with a condition she not go to the CIBC.

Molendyk says the officer investigating the case says the description of the suspect provided by the victim was an exact match to video surveillance.

"Our investigators would like to thank all of the concerned citizens for their calls," says Molendyk.
