Elderly man robbed at CIBC

An 83-year-old Vernon was allegedly robbed inside the CIBC bank on 30th Avenue in Vernon. 

The man told police that around 2:25 p.m. on Monday he entered the bank to withdraw cash from the bank machine.

Before he was able to retrieve his money, an unknown female came up from behind and grabbed the money. The female tried to run out of the bank, but he grabbed the suspect's jacket.

RCMP Spokesman says the suspect shook off his grip and then ran outside the bank. The elderly man followed, but he slipped on the snow. He sustained a cut to the back of this head and a sore shoulder.

The suspect is described as:

  • a Caucasian female
  • 32-35 yrs.
  • 5'5", slender to medium build
  • long dirty blonde hair
  • heavy makeup and wearing a heavy coat.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the police or Crime Stoppers.
