Cops hang up on dial a dope operators
RCMP in Vernon have shut down what they believe to be a dial a dope operation in the city.
Spokesman Gord Molendyk says officers with the Targeted Policing Unit conducted an investigation Tuesday into a suspected heroin trafficker.
He says that investigation led to officers stopping a vehicle and arresting a 32-year-old male suspected of operating a dial a dope heroin trafficking operation in the city.
"When the suspect was arrested a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of a number of items including heroin packaged for sale, a quantity of Canadian currency and a cell phone that kept ringing while the officers dealt with him," says Molendyk.
The suspect was released with numerous conditions on a Promise to Appear.
He is scheduled to appear in court later this month on charges of Possession of Heroin for the Purpose of Trafficking.
