More theft on Mabel Lake Rd
Lumby/Cherryville RCMP recently made a significant arrest following vehicle theft in the 400 block of Mabel Lake Rd, however complaints from the area continue to come in.
From December 10-12 officers responded to more vehicle theft, specifically in the Valley View Trailer Park, including the theft of two pickup trucks. One of the vehicles was eventually stopped by the RCMP near Langley, BC. The three passengers were from out of town and the driver has been charged.
While police continue to investigate these incidents, residents in the area are urged to take their keys out of the ignition, lock their vehicles and remove all valuables.
Residents in the 1400 block of Mabel Lake Rd are familiar with the unique “Mabel’s Melons” sign at the location. Two males were witnessed stealing the sign as they loaded it into a red pickup and fled the scene around 6:00 a.m.
Another theft in the area occurred at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 2686 Mabel Lake Rd. Thieves stole an entire nativity scene of plywood cutouts.
Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call Crime Stoppers, or Lumby RCMP.
To date, Lumby/Cherryville RCMP have responded to 1104 complaints or calls for service this year. This figure is on par with the number of calls received during 2012.
