Grow op search nets 1,400 plants
RCMP in the North Okanagan have taken down a large marijuana grow operation.
Police say they had been keeping tabs on the property in the 8100 block of Wallace Road in Vernon.
They raided the home Thursday.
"With assistance from the SED (Southeast Division) Emergency Response Team our officers conducted a search of the property and buildings," says RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk.
"Approximately 1,400 plants were located on the property in addition to over 13 pounds of packaged marijuana. During the search a stolen Yamaha WR250X motorcycle was also recovered in the large barn."
Molendyk says police also alerted BC Hydro of a hydro by-pass that was supplying power to run the grow-op.
"As is common with grow operations, the officers observed that the buildings on this property had been contaminated by various chemicals used to sustain the grow operation."
No one was home at the time of the raid.
