Trafficking investigation nets six

An investigation into drug trafficking in Vernon has led to the arrest of six people.

Police say two men, allegedly running a dial-a-dope operation were arrested in a vehicle Monday.

Spokesman Gord Molendyk says that arrest led police to an apartment in the 4100 block of Alexis Park Drive.

A search of the apartment turned up approximately one ounce of heroin as well as other related drug trafficking paraphernalia.

A 21-year-old man was also found to be in possession of cocaine and heroin packaged for sale away from the residence.

Police arrested three men and a woman at the apartment.

All four are scheduled to appear in court again in the new year.

According to investigators an ounce, or 28 grams, of heroin is typically packaged into 280 tenth or .01 gram portions for sale on the streets.

While one ounce might seem like a small number investigators says it prevented approximately 280 sales of heroin on the streets of Vernon.
