UPDATE 3:00 P.M.
Zee Marcolin, Manager of Greater Vernon Water has released the following update about the water main brake in Vernon.
"The water main on 39th Street at 22nd Avenue continues to be repaired. There are now approximately 19 homes out of water. The crew will remain on site until the repair is complete and water has returned to all homes," says Marcolin.
Most of Okanagan Avenue has reopened with the exception of Okanagan Avenue at 39th Street, he says that intersection will reopen when the repair is complete.
As for when the water turns back on Greater Vernon Water wants you to flush your system before using it.
"Once water returns to the homes affected, customers should flush their cold water until it clears. Customers may experience air in their tap (pour a glass of water and see if the water clears from the bottom up). If the water remains dirty and sediment remains in the bottom of the glass, run the cold water at your tap until it clears, indicating a return to normal water quality," suggests Marcolin
For those who have health concerns, those with compromised immune systems, and anyone seeking additional protection can drink boiled water or a safe alternative.

A second water main has broken in Vernon, this time on Okanagan Avenue at 39th Street.
Crews have isolated the break and are currently on scene and working to repair the pipe.
The Regional District of the North Okanagan says there are approximately 40 homes without water and a portion of Okanagan Avenue is closed at this time.
Crews do not know why the water main broke, and Greater Vernon Water thanks residents in advance for their cooperation. More information will be provided when it becomes available.
The other water main break happened less than a week ago near the Vernon Art Gallery.
