RCMP files from Lumby

Lumby/Cherryville RCMP have had a busy week responding to over 60 complaints or calls for service between Nov. 22nd-Dec. 6th.

The incidents involved theft, mischief, impaired driving and a hit and run.

Officers have responded to numerous complaints regarding theft from vehicles in the Cedar Ridge area and Valeyview Trailer Park on Mabel Lake Road. It appears the suspect was looking for unlocked vehicles with any items of value. During the early hours of Dec. 2nd dozens of vehicles were entered; two vehicles were also stolen. Police arrested a 33-year-old Lumby man in relation to the crimes on Dec. 4th.

On Nov. 29th officers caught two youth defacing Charles Bloom Secondary School. One of the individuals fled, while the other - a 17-year-old Lumby resident - will be charged with Mischief.

Drinking and driving continues to be an ongoing problem. The latest arrest for such matter was an 80-year-old Lumby resident on Nov. 23rd.

Additionally, police are requesting public assistance with a hit-and-run that took place in the Irly Bird parking lot on Nov. 30th at 7:45 am. The victim's parked brown 2003 Toyota Highlander was sideswiped and pushed.
