Enderby home destroyed by fire

Two elderly residents were lucky to make it out alive after their Enderby home burned to the ground Tuesday night.

Members of the Enderby Fire Department received a call around 9 p.m. last night, but the home in the 700-block of Mabel Lake Road was already fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

The two 80-year-old residents were in the basement when they heard a motor noise, followed by a loud bang says Fire Chief Kevin Alstad.

“We know he has a very expensive wood working shop in there and it happened inside there, in one of the corners, but at this point we’re still trying to determine what started it,” he says.

Everyone was able to make it out of the home and no injures were reported.
