Icy road accidents began this weekend
Slippery road conditions were to blame for two accidents on Sunday.
At around 6 p.m. a crash was reported on Hwy 97 just west of Westwold. A 53-year-old Kamloops woman was driving her car west when she lost control of her vehicle on the icy road.
She went off the highway and the vehicle rolled at least once on its way down the embankment.
Her 21-year-old daughter was a front seat passenger, both women were taken to hospital by ambulance for whiplash type injuries.
Then at 10:15 p.m. there was another single vehicle crash in the 6200 block of Rimer Rd.
The 74-year-old male driver from Vernon had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The driver told police he hit a slippery patch and then he applied the brakes causing him to swerve and roll once before ending up on the side of the road.
Police are warning drivers to be extra cautious as the conditions continue to worsen.
Ensure your vehicle is prepared for the conditions and you have proper tires.
