It’s Festival time! The first, hopefully annual, Rock The Peach Festival is set to explode in Penticton this weekend!.  What with a varied and rich line-up of musical talent, ‘Rock The Peach’ will undoubtedly set the standard for local Music Fests for years to come.

Last week, I briefed one of the Artists set to hit the Peach stage,’ Collective Soul’; this week we will peer into “Three Dog Night”.

Beginning in the late sixties, this group of American rock and soul minstrels provided the soundtrack to millions of Canadian and American teenagers and young adults.  From their numerous number ones, the group became legendary during the early seventies.  Songs such as ‘One’, ‘Mama Told Me Not To Come’, ‘Eli’s Coming’, and ‘Joy To The World’ were amongst many that rattled in our heads as we went through our ‘coming of age’.  The group is going into their fifth decade as front line performers, and will bring back memories and swell the hearts of those who gather at the ‘Peach’ this weekend in Penticton!

A full schedule of Artists appears below ‘Under the Lights’.

As reported to me, the Steve Jones Trio did not perform last week at ‘Party In the Park’ due to weather, however here are some dates for us to consider in August:  The trio will be performing at ‘Bar 1’ in the Sandman Inn at Penticton on August 4th, and the whole five-piece will storm the stage at the Penticton Lakeside Resort on the 10th and 11th of August - two early shows beginning at 5:30pm.

A few weeks ago, I had run a little piece on the upcoming stage performance planned for the Kelowna Community Theatre in August, created by Rann Berry.  “Rann Berry & The One Hit Wonders”, a living soundtrack of the sixties and early seventies will make their premier on August 10th.  However, we are in for a treat this weekend!

Rann is bringing his troupe to the top of the roof of the theatre at noon, celebrating the Beatles famous Abbey Road rooftop concert.  I cannot believe that it was fifty years ago that the Abbey Road sessions happened!  Congratulations to the Kelowna Community Theatre as well! Celebrating their fiftieth, whew! I feel so old now!  Next week, we will have more on ‘Rann Berry & The One Hit Wonders’ and the planned celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of the Kelowna Community Theatre.
