New Talent Rising

I have been privileged in the last couple of months to be able to discover some very interesting and varied new Talent assigned to me by the leading British music magazine; Fireworks!  Here are a couple of the musical gems unearthed, of course, leading me to believe that the music industry is alive and healthy—at least in some parts of the world!

One that absolutely turned my head was Duncan Morrow and his band the Delta Curves.  For pure Memphis-style blues, one needs to go no further than this young man’s debut album!  “….OK—so there you are, driving down a deserted highway-a long way from home and dog tired.  Through the dark and mist, you see some broken down neon signs flickering from a smallish building.  Looks like a club of some sort…and being more than a bit thirsty and tired of the road you decide to go inside.  Walking into a smoke filled, half empty bar-you notice a lanky shoulder length haired man ‘noodling’ on an electric guitar, with a harmonica strapped loosely around his neck.  Now, that noodling has just turned in to some very interesting bluesy riffs!  You take notice—as this sounds serious, and this guitarist can’t be much more than eighteen!!—“…that is how the story started to unfold!  This eighteen year old could have been on a Kelowna stage in any one of the music stages in the city!  He is a serious blues musician—and vastly talented!  And! so is his band…and they bring that Memphis sound to the fore, drenched in genuine Delta layered Blues-Rock: “….As this young lad continues to explore the sounds of the Delta—others gather behind him and pick up their instruments and join in.  Suddenly there is an explosion of sound coming from the stage—it stirs the innermost parts of your musical soul!—it is a pure sound, a sound of the ages—but wait!—the one producing and leading the charge is just out of his teens—how can that be?...”

…So that is how the whole album unfolds!  If you want to be immersed in the classiest Blues you will hear in a long time, please check out Duncan Morrow & Delta Curves’ debut, “Coming Home”—an absolute delight!  The album is independently released, and he is on the internet.  Duncan has a Facebook page and you can pick up his new album at CDBaby!

Now, out of the Bay Area, another guitarist and song writer turned my ears around!  T. Clemente, well known through San Francisco, but a much less profile across North America.  Now, though he has a higher profile in England and Europe thanks to Fireworks!  “Lost In Time” is not his first album, however it is a very strong musical statement: “….“Lost In Time” is about to sky rocket this awesome guitarist and his musical crew into the stratosphere!  A driving and daring collection of Hard-yet-Melodic Rock, this album is going to turn heads.  Teddy, himself, is a progressive guitarist and composer of the highest grade.  His arrangements are sterling, and with help from Producer and multi-instrumentalist; Robert Berry-border on awe-inspiring!...”

The music?—it is a combination of Hard Melodic Rock, with some very interesting Progressive elements to it.  Mr. Clemente is surrounded by extraordinary musicians and introduces an unbelievable vocalist in one Amanda Dieck, “…On this release, he also introduces us to Lead Vocalist Amanda Dieck: whose Talents run parallel to Mr. Clemente’s.  Her voice has an almost limitless depth, she can be harsh and tough when called for, melodious and soulful and then completely breathless-and that can all be in just one song!...”  Again, this album is an independent release, and deserves the attention of all Progressive/Hard Rock music lovers.  “…“Lost In Time” is one of those records that will turn the tide of music.  It is an album that you will not be quick to forget, it is an album that will call you back for more-time and time again!

Remember the name: “T. Clemente Band” Remember the album, “Lost In Time”…

Again, an independent release and available through CDBaby!  So, as I continue my musical journeys, I will continue to give you snippets of what I have discovered!  hopefully, you will check out these deserving musicians and their music…and not to worry, some of them will be from right here—and possibly your next door neighbour!!
