The UBC-Okanagan Heat athletic department continues to recruit high-level local talent and the latest example is Erin Drew, a 6’1” Middle Blocker from Rutland Senior Secondary.
She has been a previous member of the Junior Heat Volleyball Club and has committed to the school for the 2013-14 season.
“Erin is a dynamic athlete that has developed into a very solid player,” says Heat coach Steve Manuel.
“She moves well, is fast, with a quick arm, all great attributes for a middle blocker.”
Drew was named as a senior girls all-star at the Okanagan Valley AAAA Championships and will join an already formidable pair of third year middle blockers in Katy Klomps and Katie Wuttunee – the former finishing in the top three in Canada West for blocks last season.
“We like her competitiveness along with the calm presence that she brings to the court,” adds Manuel.
“At the rate she has been developing, we expect that she will have a very successful career in a Heat uniform.”
Drew is the second recruit Manuel has inked for next season, joining Michelle Jakszuk, an outside hitter from Gibsons, BC.
