Several Rockets earn individual honours

Five members of the Kelowna Rockets were honoured Thursday afternoon as the Western Hockey League announced its Western Conference all-stars and individual award winners.

Goaltender Jordon Cooke and forward Myles Bell were both named to the Western Conference second all-star team.

Cooke finished the season with a league best 37 wins and a 2.53 goals against average with five shutouts.

Bell meantime was sixth in league scoring with a team high 38 goals and 93 points.

Zach Franko, named the Rockets most sportsmanlike player over the weekend was given the same honour in the Western Conference.

Dylan Wruck of the Edmonton Oil Kings is the eastern nominee.

Rockets head coach Ryan Huska was named Coach of the Year while Bruce Hamilton was selected as Executive of the Year.

Both Huska and Hamilton oversaw a team that made a 21 win and 36 point improvement over the previous season.

Huska is paired off with Kootenay Ice head coach Ryan McGill while Hamilton will vie for league wide honours with Bob Green of the Oil Kings.

The Western Hockey League award winners along with the Player of the Year will be announced May 1 in Calgary.
