Colorado Avalanche forward Steve Moore remained in hospital Tuesday with a neck injury after crashing face first to the ice following a sucker punch by Canucks star forward Todd Bertuzzi. B.C. Solicitor General Rich Coleman said that Vancouver police were investigating Bertuzzi's hit on Moore.
The Vancouver Canucks picked up scoring punch at the NHL trade deadline Tuesday but management said it had nothing to do with anticipated disciplinary action for star forward Todd Bertuzzi. The Canucks acquired forwards Martin Rucinsky and Geoff Sanderson for prospects and draft picks.
Other NHL trade deadline highlights: the Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired veteran forward Ron Francis from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a fourth round pick in 2005 the Ottawa Senators strengthened their all-star blue-line Tuesday, acquiring Greg De Vries from the New York Rangers in exchange for defenceman Karel Rachunek and prospect Alexandre Giroux the Toronto Maple Leafs have signed unrestricted free agent defenceman Calle Johansson for the remainder of the season the Colorado Avalanche have acquired goaltender Tommy Salo and a sixth round pick in 2005 from the Edmonton Oilers for unsigned defenseman Tom Gilbert.
