Rockets let one slip away

The Kelowna Rockets let yet another two points slip away Friday as they saw their five game winning streak come to an end in Kennewick, Washington.

The Tri-City Americans scored three unanswered goals in the final period Friday in a 3-2 victory over the Rockets.

It's the fourth time this season the Rockets have squandered a third period lead.

Tri-City tied the game at 2-2 with a pair of goals 2:31 apart early in the third period.

The tying goal came just seconds before Madison Bowey was set to leave the penalty box.

Justin Feser scored the game winner with a little more than five minutes remaining in regulation time.

The Rockets were unable to get the equalizer.

After a scoreless first period in which the Rockets outshot Tri-City 16-9, Ryan Olsen and Myles Bell connected with second period markers to stake the Rockets to a 2-0 lead.

Kelowna held a 30 14 edge in shots through 40 minutes.

Despite also holding an edge on the shot clock in the third the Rockets were unable to add to their lead.

Kelowna outshot Tri-City 43-22.

Jordon Cooke, who missed the last three games with an upper body injury suffered in practice returned between the pipes for the Rockets.

It was a relatively tame game with only five minor penalties called throughout the course of the game. Tri-City went 1-2 on the power-play while the Rockets were 0-3 with the man advantage.

The same two teams face each other Saturday night in Tri-City.
