A strong showing by the Okanagan Heat women's soccer team this season has led to the selection of five of their starters to the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) all-star team.

It marks the third straight year the women have had five players named.

The Heat women are ranked 8th in the country as they head into the PACWEST playoffs this weekend.

Forward Kirsten Dodds from Vernon, keeper Christine Tallon of Kamloops, defender Hayley Carlson, fullback Jennifer Kidd and freshman midfielder Mairi Horth all earned all-star selections.

Dodds and Carlson have now earned all-star nods during their freshman and sophomore seasons.

Although they failed to make the playoffs, the men’s squad placed two players on the all-star team for the second straight year.

This year, Vernon's Austin Jones and freshman defender David Yesaya both made the cut.

The five UBC-Okanagan Heat women all-stars will be honoured at the upcoming provincial championships in Squamish before their first semi-final match-up, Friday at 4:30 p.m. when they take on Quest University
