Major Midget Rockets dominate the Ice
Oct 7, 2012 / 2:22 pm
The Okanagan Rockets had plenty to be thankful for as they crushed the visiting Kootenay Ice 10-0 in BC Major Midget Hockey action Sunday afternoon.
Sunday's win follows on the heels of 6-0 win over the Ice on Saturday. The Rockets out shot the Ice 106-24 over the two games.
Brendan Wagner helped lead the Okanagan attack with his team leading 7th and 8th goals of the season, while the Kelowna Rocket's second round pick Joe Gatenby picked up his first two goals of the season.
Also scoring for the Rockets were Josh Blanchard with two while Cory Santoro, Michael McEachern, Cortlan Procter and Liam Finlay all scored singles.
A day after Reid Kilburn picked up his 1st BCMML shutout, veteran Brendan Mills added another to his resume making 12 saves in a relatively quiet game.
Mills is now 2-0-1 on the season with a 2.67 goals against average.
The win was the Rockets fifth straight as they improved to 5-0-1 through week 3 of the BCMML schedule.
Things will likely get much tougher for the Rockets next weekend as they travel to Langley for the Annual BCMML Showcase weekend at the Langley Events Centre.
The Rockets will face the Valley West Hawks, who earned a pair of weekend wins over the South Island Royals and improved their record to 4-2-0 on the season.
Games are set for 5:15 p.m. on Saturday and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
