Speedy new-look Chiefs

The Kelowna Chiefs start the 2019-20 Kootenay International Hockey League season against valley rivals the Summerland Steam.

The club had an exceptional season last year, but many of the veterans have moved on to the Junior A ranks.

"We don't anticipate that those players will return to the club, but we have built a young, fast hockey team, that I think has more depth than last year," said General Manager Jason Tansem.
The clubs home opener at the Rutland Arena West goes September 20th against the Chase Heat.
"We are family-focused, it's fun affordable hockey, free parking, great concession and licensed, we want to provide a great experience," adds Tamsen.

Former President and General Manager Grant Sheridan will be honoured at the home opener. Sheridan passed away this summer at the age of 47 from bacterial meningitis. All players in the league will wear a GS sticker on their helmets this season.

Sheridan was a part-owner and general manager of the Kelowna Chiefs Hockey Club, and a founding partner of the Peacock Sheridan Group. He left behind his wife Cherie, son Tanner, parents Dale and Sharon and brother Rod.
