Strong start for Shephard

In just his rookie season with the UBC Thunderbirds men’s basketball team, former KSS Owl Grant Shephard is having an impact.  He’s played in 18 games and is averaging 8.7 points a game and is shooting 58.8 per cent from the floor.  This past weekend in his return to Kelowna to face the UBC Okanagan Heat, Shephard scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in two games.

In July of 2017 he helped the U19 Team Canada men’s basketball team to an historic world title at the FIBA World Cup in Cairo Egypt.  He scored six points and grabbed six rebounds as Canada won its first ever FIBA championship gold medal at any level.

Just last month, that team was named the 2017 Canadian Team of the Year.

Ryan Watters talks with Shephard about his World Cup title and his rookie season with the Thunderbirds.
