The Kelowna Falcons prospects of earning a West Coast League playoff berth took a major hit Monday in Bellingham.
The Falcons fell 5-3 to the Bells, the team they're trying to chase down for the second-half title, to kick off a three-game series.
Kelowna sits two back of the Bells and a half game behind Walla Walla with five games left.
Bellingham roughed up starter O'Keefe Hall early, putting up three in their half of the first, taking advantage of two hits, a stolen base and three walks.
The Falcons cut the deficit to 4-3 with two runs in the top of the seventh on a bases loaded single from Chandler Robertson.
Lane Lacrone was thrown out at third, possibly preventing a bigger inning.
The Falcons were unable to get any closer.
The two teams conclude their series Wednesday before the Falcons return home to close out the regular season against Walla Walla.
