Falcons bats go silent

It was a night when nothing went right for the Kelowna Falcons.

The Falcons didn't hit, their pitching struggled and they committed far too many errors in a 12-0 shellacking at the hands of the Corvallis Knights.

The hometown Knights got to the Falcons early, scoring two in the home half of the first, then blew the game wide open with five in the fifth and two more in the sixth to assume a commanding 9-0 lead.

Jake Simmons tossed five complete innings, allowing seven runs, six of those earned, on 10 hits. He walked one and struck out four.

The bullpen mopped up the final three innings, allowing the final five runs, only two of which were earned.

The loss was the third straight for the Falcons, who had won five straight previously.

The 5-4 Falcons continue their road trip in Corvallis tonight.
