Rain continually delayed the Kelowna Falcons over the weekend.
When they finally did hit the diamond against the Victoria Harbourcats on Sunday, things sure got stormy.
As Game 1 of the double-header went into extra innings, a Harbourcats base runner up-ended the Falcons’ Lane Lacrone with a hard slide into second.
Lacrone wasn't going to take the slide laying down. The pushing and shoving turned into a bench-clearing brawl, with both dugouts emptying to scuffle. That resulted in ejections on both sides.
After a lengthy delay and the Harbourcats eventual 5-1 victory after a burst of offence in the extra inning, both sides took a break and met again nearly an hour later for Game 2.
The Falcons also dropped the second game, 8-5.
Coach Bryan Donohue said his club was their own worst enemy Sunday.
“We come in riding a five-game win streak, then all of a sudden we don’t take care of our own business and look what happens, we get beat twice,” he said.
Game 3 of the Falcons-Harbourcats series will be played at a later date, yet to be announced.
On Tuesday, the Falcons travel to Corvallis, Ore., to take on the Knights.
