  • The Montreal Expos will retire Tim Raines' No. 30 during a special ceremony prior to their June 19th game against the Chicago White Sox.
  • The Ottawa Senators have offered a new contract to captain Daniel Alfredsson. The 31 year old is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, and the Senators want to get him signed before the playoffs.
  • Anja Paerson of Sweden secured her first overall World Cup title Saturday and Hermann Maier virtually clinched the men's title. After the men's giant slalom was cancelled due to bad weather, Bode Miller of the United States was awarded the giant slalom title.
  • Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd. has pulled of a plan to build a $120-million sports complex at the University of Toronto. MLSE, was working in partnership with the Toronto Argonauts, U of T., and the Canadian Soccer Association to build a new sports complex that would include a 25,000-seat stadium with synthetic grass, an all-weather track, a shopping area, a new hockey arena and a separate practice rink for the Leafs.
